What is SPACES MNL?

Spaces MNL is your go-to-place for shows, events, and engagements. It is the brainchild of Francis Raymond Dacanay, CEO of Spaces MNL, and Director for Community Engagement and Partnerships of LoveYourself, Inc.

The Covid-19 pandemic paved the way for the creation of Spaces MNL with Just Wandaring – Friday Night Entertainment Show with LoveYourself, as its first Live Show via Spaces MNL’s Facebook Page, dated June 5, 2021. From this date onward, Spaces MNL has created several shows such as Fact U (now AdvocaSis, Mondays), Love, Sex, and Drags (LSD, former Drag PlayHouse PH’s, Tuesdays), HerStory (bi-Wednesdays), Flourish 101 (now Flourish Hour, bi-Wednesdays), Spotlight (Thursdays), Kinks&Kweens (Fridays), and Kweeens Noight (Saturdays).

Spaces MNL was created, primarily: (1) to serve great entertainment to general public, especially to members of the LGBT community, at the midst of pandemic, and; (2) to serve as a platform for our local Drag Queens who have lost their safe spaces due to the pandemic.

Spaces MNL also offers several Event Management services to local and international organizations/companies from conceptualization to event execution.

Meet the PROPRIETOR

“Share our similarities, celebrate our differences."

Inspired by M. Scott Peck, this has been the motto of our proprietor as he walks towards his journey in championing his vision as an advocate of LGBTQIA+ rights.

Spaces MNL CEO Francis Raymond Dacanay, who prefers to be called Kiko, has been an essential figure in HIV and mental health awareness in the Philippines. Aside from these, he has been advocating for the inclusivity of the members of the LGBT community, which was furthered when he joined LoveYourself Inc. This community, which includes volunteers who focus on trans, mental, and sexual health, allowed Kiko to become the director for community engagement and partnership of said esteemed organization.

Part of his achievements as a project manager and events practitioner for ten years include spearheading the Love Gala, which honors individuals who contributed to HIV advocacy in the country. He also initiated LGBTQIA+ events such as the Cherry Poppin, which aimed to raise HIV awareness and raise funds for its cause; Love Con, a pride convention that aimed to showcase the talents and culture of the LGBTQIA+ community; and Annual Pride Night, which boosts and empowers the LGBTQIA+ community to be seen and accepted by the society.

Kiko has also been a game-changer in developing programs for the drag community. Because of the unfortunate events brought about by the pandemic, his team created shows that would showcase the talents of drag queens and, at the same time, provide income for these talents. It includes the following: Fact U, a show that discusses socio-political issues that affect members of the LGBTQIA+ community; LSD (Love, Sex and Drugs) and Kweeens Noight, two different shows that feature performances of drag artists; Flourish Hour, a show that tackles issues affecting the mental wellness of the LGBTQIA+ community; HerStory, a show that features the stories and journeys of prominent drag queens; Kinks and Kweeens, a discussion on the challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals; and Spotlight, an online drag competition in search for the next drag superstar.

As the Space MNL continues to expand its business, Kiko promises to live by his motto — to share our similarities and celebrate our differences.
